Logos and their design principles

Though traditionally logos were used to design for identification and differentiation from other competitors, now logos are supposed to be the medium of conveying the meaningful messages to the customers, generating positive emotions displaying the meaning of the brand (Machado, 20150). Nowadays most of the organizations are very conscious about their brand due to which they are investing their huge amount of money and time in designing the perfect logo (Machado, 20150). So designing the best logo which can really make the difference to the business is important.

Before designing logos on the basis of the basic knowledge I gained about using illustrator I did some research on some of the common design principles for the logo.

There are numbers of ideas discussed to design the effective logo. I have extracted some of the major logo design principles.

Four design principles for logo

1. Keep it simple

The first and important thing to remember while designing the logo is to keep it simple which can generate a clear picture of the brand and product to the customers.

2. Strategic color combination

Different color gives different meanings and to make the logo attractive. The combination of colors in the logo should be matching to each other as well as to the brand.

3. Scalable and versatile

Logos are the first identity for the brands. For the promotion, purpose logos may be displayed in any size of surfaces. So where ever it is being displayed its structure should be consistent.

4. Easy to remember

The design of the logo should be with such effect that customer can remember it for a long time. This will help to get the loyalty of the customers in the future also.

5. Timeless

While designing logo designer should keep the concept away from the current trend, because the trend fades away with time so the logo will. So to keep the logo for long term strong concept should be built and keep it from the current trend.
